China is one of the most relevant countries in the Global South, especially because it is the largest developing country in the international arena. It is considered a developing country because of the elements taken into account to measure its gross national income, for example, among others.
Thus, China has given voice to the Global South through the promotion of multilateralism, the promotion of various reforms in different areas, as well as through multilateral diplomacy in various international forums such as the UN and international cooperation on various issues.
A transcendental example is the Belt and Road Initiative, which has allowed China to cooperate both bilaterally and multilaterally with different nations.
Another important example is the opening of international forums such as BRICS to include new members to this important multilateral forum.
China is an important promoter of South-South cooperation, through important regional forums such as the CELAC-China Cooperation Forum and the China-Africa Cooperation Forum.
According to data from China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China has supported more than “1,100 projects in the Global South through the Global Development Initiative.” [1]
Thus, in a multipolar world, China promotes greater participation in international affairs by the Global South.
