On June 17, 2025, the Foreign Ministers of 21 Arab and Islamic countries issued a Joint Declaration to express their concern and interest in collaborating with related parties to “promote the de-escalation of the situation” [1] and reduce tension in the Middle East.
Among the 21 countries that issued the Joint Statement in question are “Algeria, Bahrain, Brunei Darussalam, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Gambia, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Mauritania, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Turkey, Oman and the United Arab Emirates.” [2]
This Joint Statement demonstrates the significant effort by these nations to reiterate their commitment to stability in the region, calling for restraint on the part of all parties involved.
It is important to note that China hosted and mediated the dialogue between the 21 countries to establish the Joint Declaration, to offer its readiness to support peace and stability in the Middle East.
From the point of view of diplomacy, China reaffirmed its commitment to respect the sovereignty of countries and regional stability.
For China, dialogue, international cooperation and diplomacy are important to promote peace and mutual understanding in the region.
