The 28th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will be held in Russia from June 18-21, 2025.
Considered as a platform for global economic dialogue, attendees will discuss effective ways to address global issues on the international stage, as well as how to foster international cooperation.
Focused on economics and business, the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum “is organized under the patronage and with the participation of the President of the Russian Federation.” (1)
It is also a space for debate on important international issues, with the participation of international leaders and heads of state and government from around the world.
This year 2025 the theme is “shared values: the basis for growth in a multipolar world.”
China will attend this high-level economic event, represented by the Vice Premier of the State Council of China, Ding Xuexiang.
For its part, China's role in this event is significant because it will seek to strengthen international cooperation, promote multilateralism through equitable economic governance, and strengthen ties with Russia, as well as participate in key economic discussions.
Thus, China's participation in this high-level economic forum reflects its interest in strengthening international cooperation in an uncertain context of increasing multipolarity, as well as promoting “universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization.” (2)
In addition, it is important to note that this is an important diplomatic event for dialogue as well as to strengthen its connections with key nations.
